POLSKI JEST COOL - THE INNOVATIVE COURSE FOR TEACHING POLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE

NOW AVAILABLE IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!

The rapid technological progress which we are witnessing is often the axis of the dispute between traditionalists, who see it as more threats than benefits, and supporters of modern technologies, who see it as an opportunity for a breakthrough similar to the 19th-century industrial revolution, which permanently changed and shaped the modern world. This progress also alters those areas which, it would seem, remain a mainstay of tradition, such as the broadly understood publishing market, including the market of publications for language learning. The rustle of pages, the unique smell of paper covered with printing ink or the possibility of placing notes in the margins are a pleasure for some, which they are not ready to sacrifice, but for others, for example remote learners using the Internet, an experience which they give up for convenience without much regret. In order to select the best option, let us briefly analyse what are the advantages and disadvantages of each version - printed and interactive - on the example of the textbook for learning Polish for foreigners Polski jest cool available, uniquely, in both versions.

First, let us look at the printed version of the Polski jest cool course. The course includes a textbook with exercises Polski jest cool A1, Polski jest cool A2, the teacher's book Polish is cool and ready-made materials for copying for Polish as a foreign language lessons containing games and activities in Polish. The traditional book is undeniably user-friendly due to its handy format, the ease of finding the right pages with the information needed, the clarity of the layout of individual pages, and the combination of a textbook and exercises in one volume. Often, teachers conducting Polish language courses for foreigners use the textbook with workbook Polski jest cool not only as a carrier of information about the content taught, but also as an object used in games and activities to make lessons more attractive, it becomes a prop of a kind. The printed copy guarantees almost unlimited access to the information sought for a long time, the license will not expire, using it does not require an access code to Polski jest cool, and expensive devices are not required. For many, the ability to complete exercises with a pencil or pen, without having to use the keyboard will be an advantage. The traditional, printed version will prove to be an ideal solution for those students who approach modern technologies with reserve or have limited access to the necessary equipment.

An alternative solution is to use the Polski jest cool course on a learning platform, for example on the Dzwonek platform. For both the authors and the publisher of the Polski jest cool course, the cooperation with teachers of Polish as a foreign language, cooperation with Polish diaspora organisations and cooperation with language schools was and is one of the foundations. The need for an interactive version of a Polish language book for foreigners has been raised many times, indicating that the interactive version of the textbook with workbook Polski jest cool may prove to be an excellent solution for distance learning, via the Internet and in places where access to the printed version is limited, for example due to shipping costs for a physical copy. With the growing interest in learning Polish as a foreign language for professional reasons by people forced to travel frequently, it became obvious that the interactive version of the Polski jest cool course would be a natural choice. The effects of the work of the team of creators and publishers of the book for learning Polish for foreigners Polski jest cool A1 and Polski jest cool A2 have been recognised for their excellent reproduction of the printed version, simplicity and user-friendliness, and ease of access. After installing the appropriate application and obtaining the access code to Polski jest cool, students and teachers can use the interactive version of the textbook with exercises. The interactive version is identical to the printed version, it allows to freely listen to the recordings, perform various exercises in real time and immediately check the correctness of the answers, enlarge text fragments or search the pages even when there is no Internet access. Reading books in Polish at A1 and A2 levels, grammar exercises, speaking exercises or listening exercises - all elements of a traditional book are also available in an interactive version. Importantly, teachers looking for an answer to the question of how to teach Polish from the elementary level gain the opportunity to combine an excellent communicative textbook for learning Polish Polski jest cool with almost unlimited Internet resources.

Understandably, there is no clear answer to the question of which version, printed or interactive, is better. It seems that each option is addressed to a slightly different audience, so they are not competitive with each other, but complementary, they supplement each other, constituting a comprehensive solution as a textbook for learning Polish as a foreign language. There is a certain group of learners who will use both versions alternately, according to their needs. Because POLSKI JEST COOL!
