We recommend the new edition of the course, in which the textbook is combined in one volume with a workbook - Polski jest cool A1 part I. Student's Book and Workbook and Polski jest cool A1 part II. Student's Book and Workbook.
In the student's book, there are 24 chapters plus two extra lessons for special occasions: "Christmas" and "Easter", as well as an introductory lesson and grammar tables. The student's book, together with the workbook and two books for the teacher - a methodological guide and a set of materials for copying Games and Activities. Materials for copying is a complete, one-year Polish language course for foreigners.
Materials for learning Polish as a foreign language included in the student's book Polski jest cool A1 are authentic texts, interesting audio recordings, a professional pronunciation course and consistently introduced language structures and grammar rules.
Polski jest cool A1, together with workbook and materials for the teacher, constitutes a coherent, modern course for learning Polish at the beginner level for foreigners from different countries and cultures.
Learning Polish is in a discernible way easier for Slavs, but Polski jest cool has been used by the Japanese, Indians, Israelis, Americans and Germans for years and with excellent results. With joy and amazement do they discover that the Polish language is not as difficult as they initially anticipated.
The student's book is engaging, contemporaneous, it touches on topics which are interesting for both teenagers and adult students, and while learning the language, students will also discover to understand the Polish culture, customs and the realities of everyday life in Poland. Thanks to practical examples students will learn not only how to communicate in Polish, but also how to settle a matter at the office, buy a train ticket or make an appointment with a doctor.
The textbook implements all the language skills indispensable for effective communication- interesting texts to teach how to understand the written texts; professional, high-quality listening recordings; interesting and diverse ideas for speaking - both in pairs and in groups, as well as consistently introduced writing tasks of increasing difficulty.
It must not be overlooked that Polski jest cool at the A1 level is the only book on the market encompassing the phonetic course for learning Polish, consistently implemented in each lesson.
The phonetics course, inspired by Barbara Karczmarczuk's excellent book Wymowa polska z ćwiczeniami, allows to become familiar with the sound of the Polish language, particularly more difficult sounds, practice their pronunciation, and finally use the acquired skills in natural communication situations.
Problems with pronunciation often thwart foreigners from making contact in Polish. The practical phonetic course implemented in Polski jest cool will aid in overcoming this barrier. With frequent, consistent pronunciation exercises and engaging speaking tasks, students quickly gain confidence and put their skills into practice.
The new vocabulary is introduced in its appropriate context and is immediately used in a variety of exercises to improve all language skills. The entire lessons are concentrated on both new and previously learnt vocabulary and structures, so students are not surprised by the tasks which exceed their lexical resources or current skills. Should there be a problem with completing a task, students can easily find the presented vocabulary, tables with grammatical rules or new structures.
Working with Polski jest cool A1, students learn the Polish language directly in Polish, which, of course, might make them fall into a flat spin initially, but they quickly find out that this way, immersing themselves in the language, it is easier to assimilate the vocabulary, Polish phrases, students start speaking Polish faster and understand their teacher.
Thanks to the clear, consistently conducted lessons, students feel confident, their tangible progress enhances a sense of success and they are happy to practice new skills.

REVIEWS
There are not many textbooks for learners of Polish on the market which are so consistently built on the principles of neurodidactics, so up-to-date, so quickly and effectively introducing students to the world of the Polish language, as "Polski jest cool A1". All this makes "Polski jest cool" the most frequently recommended course for learning Polish at Polish and foreign universities, the book is often recommended to teachers by other teachers (e.g. those gathered around the prestigious Stowarzyszenie „Bristol” Polskich i Zagranicznych Nauczycieli Kultury Polskiej i Języka Polskiego jako Obcego), and on Facebook forums, the most common answer to the question "what book to use to teach Polish to foreigners at the elementary level" is: "Polski jest cool".
Reviews
"Polski jest COOL" is an extensive and complete attempt to create a study intended for the threshold level of teaching Polish as a foreign language. Its authors very creatively and professionally configure the lexical and grammatical material provided, maintaining the rigor and gradation resulting from methodological recommendations. The material is composed in a "modern" way, and it is possible to use it both during lessons and for independent work. This is because the authors imposed a great meticulousness on themselves. Subsequent units, words, grammatical problems, sentence constructions emerge consistently from the previous ones. The spiral method in learning and mastering lexis is also preserved, which is an indispensable principle at this level of language advancement. Compared to the leading publications of the same nature, it can be considered a very good concept. I willingly and responsibly recommend "Polski jest COOL" by Ewa Piotrowska-Rola and Marzena Porębska.

I would like to recommend a book for beginners, which was created at the School of Polish Language and Culture of the Catholic University of Lublin and hence, at least in part, its title - "Polski jest COOL". The authors of this book, Ewa Piotrowska-Rola and Marzenia Porębska, were most interested in convincing their students that the Polish language from the very first lesson can be primarily a communication tool which everyone is able to handle. […] The authors managed to keep the proportions between grammatical and communicative progression - each new structure is immediately applicable in a specific situation which a student may encounter on a daily basis. Multiple repetitions of the same material, but each time in a different exercise, cause that each topic is consolidated during the lesson, and the student gains the much-needed courage and freedom in speaking. Numerous drawings, photos and diagrams help in this. An additional advantage of this book is also the fact that it works great in groups which have had no contact with the Polish language and for whom Polish is quite an exotic language, especially in the phonic layer. The book is also worth recommending to those who prepare groups for certification exams. The entire review can be found at bristol.us.edu.pl.

Two things stand out about this book - it's easy to understand right from the start thanks to the drawings and photos, and you don't have to learn grammar or any other boring stuff. Everything just gets into your head! Exercises force you to repeat the same constructions in different ways and you don't even know how it is that you speak Polish from the first lesson!

Now I am doing my doctoral research at KUL. When I first came to Poland, I was greeted by a very difficult language. But the book "POLSKI JEST COOL" with its very simple structure and interesting content allowed me to understand and speak Polish in a short time. Interesting texts and relevant illustrations help to remember new words faster. Grammar is presented in a systematic and logical way.

The numerous reading materials, practical exercises and examples of useful dialogues depicting everyday situations in this book present the rules of Polish grammar in a natural and practical context. They prepare the student to speak, read and write Polish extremely quickly. The material is very well organized, richly illustrated and attracts attention.

The book "POLSKI JEST COOL" is a real treasure! Thanks to it, I had the courage to repeat A, B, C... first, and then I was able to swim to the depths of the Polish language. That is why I owe so much to its authors and I recommend it to all those learning Polish.
